It’s officially Day 3, and oh, what a day it’s been. Technically, I guess it’s Day 4 now since it’s after midnight, but here I sit, like a good little (biggle?) blogger, getting it done!
I have some BIG news—giant news, really. I’m creating a website! Talk about stepping out of my comfort zone. Forget clothes; this is a whole new level of scary. Creating a webpage feels like navigating an entirely different universe, and I am woefully unprepared. But here I am, trudging along, determined to make it happen. After all, I paid $35 to start this thing, and there’s no turning back now!
There are SO MANY moving parts. I’ve spent hours just trying to figure out how to add a blog post to it. I did successfully create a logo (with Evelynn’s help), and honestly, I’m proud of it! It’s amazing how something as small as a logo can make this whole thing feel real. Excited? Yes. Terrified? Also yes. Welcome to my train wreck, folks! I won’t hold it against you if you point and laugh while I try to figure this out.
Anyway, let’s rewind to today—or yesterday?
I’ve been working hard, with Schitt’s Creek reruns playing in the background, until I completely lost track of time. Evelynn has gone to bed, and the house is now quiet—except for the pirate’s snores echoing from the bedroom. For someone who doesn’t have a ton going on, my brain sure doesn’t like to shut up. It’s like thought soup up there. I fear this post is nothing more than a mishmash of nothingness.
Onward!
Today was actually a good day—for reals. The morning was a bit chaotic because the girls were getting all dolled up in their cheer uniforms, with their makeup perfect and their hair styled just so. Evelynn had mentioned earlier in the week that her oil light was on, so I decided to teach her how to check her oil this morning.
She followed me to the gas station, where I showed her how to pop the hood, locate the dipstick, and check the oil. Turns out, her car had NO OIL. (Insert motherly explanation here about why this is a big deal.) Luckily, she had a jug of oil in the back of her rig, so after convincing a helpful man nearby to remove the oil cap for us- I’m convinced it was super glued on as I couldn’t get it to budge, we poured it in, and she was good to go. Crisis averted.
After all that excitement, coffee was a must.
I picked up our coffee order, dropped the girls’ drinks off at school, and finally settled into work. And guess what? Work was great today—I really love my job and the amazing coworkers I get to spend time with. It’s such a blessing to genuinely enjoy what I do, even on the busy days.
The Walking Saga Continues
Yes, I did it! Odin and I walked nearly two miles, taking the hill route, which I had been avoiding for a while (now I remember why). The pirate and Hazel joined us for the first stretch but turned back early since he’s still been feeling under the weather. It felt good to get another day of healthy exercise under my belt. I even noticed Odin’s tail wagging a little more than usual—he must be enjoying the routine as much as I am.
The Chicken Debacle
Let’s keep this part short: I had big dreams of air-frying a whole chicken. I lovingly seasoned it, rubbed it with butter, and tried to shove it, boob-side down, into the air fryer—only to discover it didn’t fit. Plan B: I tossed it into the Instant Pot and let the pressure cooker work its magic. I did manage to air-fry some asparagus (and tiny red potatoes for Evelynn), so at least part of dinner went according to plan. Moral of the story? I need a bigger air fryer. I want a bigger air fryer.
Reflections Before Bed
I forgot to mention my blood sugars—still within goal range all day, and I didn’t take insulin again! That’s two days in a row, and it’s giving me hope that these healthy changes are paying off. As I sit here reflecting, I realize that while this post turned out to feature Evelynn quite a bit, I’m okay with it. If you’re lucky life is a mix of your own journey and the people you love most.
Goodnight, friends! I’ll see you on Day 4.
Cheers,
Tara Ann
