Last Night, I Left You with a Few Burning Questions…

  1. Would I brave the cold for a walk today, or would I let the WalkFit app decide my fate with some questionable workout option involving lunges I’d regret tomorrow?
  2. Would Odin ever forgive me for daring to walk Walmart without him?
  3. And most importantly—would Crumbl’s cookie lineup redeem itself next week?

Tonight, I bring you the answers you’ve been waiting for, because I know you’ve been just as restless about them as I have. (Kidding—I slept fine. But I do appreciate your imaginary concern.)

Answer 1: Frosty Strides and Near-Death Ice Capades

YES! I braved the cold and took that walk like the North Idaho native I am. Was this even really a question? Odin and I powered through a solid 50-minute, 2.24-mile trek, proving once again that I can, in fact, handle the elements—and that I have an impressive talent for almost but not quite wiping out on icy patches. There was a brief moment where I thought I was going down in a spectacular, slow-motion disaster, but I recovered with all the grace of a newborn deer.

And because I’m truly dedicated (or maybe just a little bit stubborn), we did it again tonight—this time with snow! That’s right, we got a fresh inch or two overnight, and even more in town. I’m mildly concerned about Odin’s feet on these long, cold walks, but he doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, I’m pretty sure he thinks he’s a sled dog now. Every time we get home, he looks perfectly fine—meanwhile, I’m the one stretching like I just ran a marathon.

Answer 2: Forgiveness in Exchange for Food

Has Odin forgiven me for my solo Walmart stroll? Absolutely. Did he ever really hold a grudge? Probably not. He’s a very understanding soul, mostly because he knows exactly who controls the food supply. Speaking of which, yes, I actually make his and Hazel’s food every week. They inhale it like they’ve never been fed before, proving that homemade dog food is either the best thing ever or they just enjoy the dramatic effect of acting like starving animals. Either way, they’ve got me wrapped around their little paws.

Answer 3: Crumbl’s Sweet, Sweet Redemption

The Crumbl lineup—oh, it delivered this week! Redemption achieved. Saturday’s cheer comp will be followed by the very serious decision of which cookie to devour. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

The Takeaway: Walking is No Longer Optional

Before I sign off, I’ll leave you with this final nugget of wisdom:

It’s safe to say my daily walks are officially a thing. There have been a few days when I told myself, Nah, I’m taking a break today, only to sit down for approximately four minutes before popping back up, lacing up my shoes, and grabbing my reflective sweatshirt. Turns out, missing a day just isn’t an option anymore.

Who knew I’d become that person? Not me. But here we are.

See you on the next walk!

Cheers,

Tara Ann
